Punjab University Decide About Land Lease Next Week

Lahore (APP):Jan 06: The Punjab University (PU) Syndicate would meet next week to take a decision on lease of 50 kanal land facing Faisal Town to a private bus company for Rs 78 million per annum which would help the university generate its own financial resources to meet rising expenditure. The syndicate meeting, chaired by PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, decided to take up the issue on the regular agenda when it meets next week which was earlier scheduled to be discussed on the supplementary agenda. A PU spokesperson talking to APP here Sunday said that the PU had decided to lease 50 kanal land in the wake of financial constraints besides in best public welfare. He said the PU did not get enough financial support from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and it generated meagre funds from the fee and agriculture land lease while the PU budget was Rs 5 billion per annum (HEC provided only Rs 1.6 billion to the PU annually).
