Matric student dies in accident

LAHORE :August 14:A matric student was killed and two other people were injured in a road accident on Canal Road Campus Underpass on Sunday. The victim was identified as Ahmad of Dharampura. Two speeding vehicles, a truck and a tractor-trolley, hit cars and bikes on Canal Road Campus Underpass, as a result of which, three people, including Ahmad, sustained injuries. The injured were removed to hospital where Ahmad succumbed to his injuries. People caught the truck driver and gave him a good thrashing. Police have impounded the truck and the tractor-trolley.The news.

I-Day plan finalised of Independence Day

LAHORE:12 August:As the country is all set to celebrate the 70th Independence Day with every street and locality is decorated with national flags and bustling with activities, the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab has chalked out an elaborated programme to celebrate the day on Sunday from 3pm. TDCP will organise a grand flag off “City Parade” which includes super bikes, vintage cars, rally jeeps, floats, double-decker buses, Jhoomar party and drummers, kicking off from Ferozepur Road at 3.30 pm.

University of Veterinary Sciences team leaves for Quetta

LAHORE:12 August:A delegation of 20 students and four faculty members of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Friday left for Quetta to participate in Karwan-e-Yakjehti event being organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Balochistan government to mark 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. The delegation, led by Associate Professor Parasitology Dr Muhammad Lateef, Dr Sadat and Dr Muhammad Asad Ali, will participate in a series of activities in Quetta from August 12 to 17, 2017.The news.

Lahore college Women University week-long Independence Day celebrations

LAHORE:11th august: The Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) announced week-long Independence Day celebrations and has finalised preparations. LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Uzma Qureshi approved the events in a meeting and asked that these functions continue with traditional fervour. The events will be celebrated from August 7 to August 12. The university would conduct drama, speech and essay competitions, quiz, national songs, naat and qirat competitions, a poster exhibition and panel discussions. Rs3.81 billion approved as UVAS annual budget

LAHORE: August 11:Syndicate members lauded the role of UVAS for providing quality of education in the country and various food products prepared by students to promote safe and healthy food. PFA bans soft drinks at educational institutions

LAHORE: August 11: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has decided to impose a ban on the sale of all types of soft and energy drinks at educational institutions across Punjab from August 14. The authority has issued instructions to all beverage manufacturing companies that they cannot supply cold drinks to any of educational institution. Provincial food watchdog has also barred beverage manufacturer to supply all soft and energy drinks to shopkeepers, canteens and drink corners in 100 metres of educational institutions. ‘Counterfeit soft drinks more prevalent than original product’

Express Education and Career Expo concludes

LAHORE: August 11: The Express Education and Career Expo 2017 concluded on a high note of Thursday with hundreds of students taking part in a score of competitions on the last day. The expo ended at a local hotel with thousands of visitors coming to the event throughout the day. The second and last day of the expo saw students participating in different competitions including documentary, singing and fashion show competitions between different public and private universities. LHC orders cancellation of BA 3rd div students’ admission to LLB

LAHORE:11th 1ugust: A full bench of the Lahore High Court Thursday cancelled admission of LLB students who had secured 3rd division in bachelor, ruling that such admission was done in a blatant violation of Punjab University’s rules. The bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued this order while dismissing petitions filed by dozens of students who got 3rd division but were studying in private law colleges. The court also ordered the colleges to cancel the registration and refund full fee to the students who got admissions in violation of the university’s rules.

STEP students top entrance tests of universities

LAHORE:August 10: The Strategic and Tactical Entry Test Preparation (STEP) programme, an initiative of the Punjab Group of Colleges, has gathered massive achievements since its inception. Momin Ahmad Khan, a graduate of STEP programme and Punjab College, secured first position in this year's entry tests of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), and also stood first in Engineering College Admission Test (ECAT) Rawalpindi Region.
