Teachers demo for upgrading of posts

LAHORE:25 august: Dozens of schoolteachers staged a demonstration on Thursday and protested against the Punjab government for delaying upgrading of teaching posts and ignoring their other issues. The demo was held outside the Lahore Press Club on the call of Punjab Teachers Union (PTU). Similar protest demonstrations were held outside press clubs in different cities of the province. Carrying banners and placards the schoolteachers came hard on the Punjab School Education Department for ignoring what they termed their just demands including upgrading of posts.

Online system receives 246,544 applications

LAHORE:25 august: s many as 651 public colleges across Punjab have received 246,544 applications since the launch of intermediate level admission cycle 2017 on July 27, 2017 through Online College Admissions System (OCAS). The OCAS has been developed by Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for Higher Education Department (HED) for processing admission applications for FA, FSC, ICS programmes. Over one million applications have been processed through the online system in the past few years.

Pakistan Independence Day ceremony at a private college

LAHORE:25 august: Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said Pakistani youths are the most intelligent among all the nations and future of the country is in safe hands. Addressing the students at Pakistan Independence Day celebrations ceremony held at a private college on Wednesday, the minister said the youth needed to be optimistic as the country had achieved a lot during a short period since independence in 1947. Rector of the group of institutions, Prof Amjad Ali, presented the welcome address.

Students protest Medical and Dental College paper leak

LAHORE:24 August: A number of students staged a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Wednesday to press the authorities to retake Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) as its question paper was leaked. Carrying placards, the protesters demanded that the condition to appear in MDCAT for admission to medical and dental colleges should be withdrawn as only students of private tuition centres performed well in it because they got the question paper in advance.

Two-week hands-on training in University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences

Lahore:23 August: Two-week hands-on training of faculty members and one month training of DVM fourth year students for clinical skill enhancement completed at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, on Tuesday. According to a press release, the participants were from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (SBBUVAS) Sakrand, Sindh. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the concluding session of the training programme and distributed certificates among the participants.

Punjab University quality control education programmes

Lahore:23 august: Punjab University (PU) and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote need-based standardisation and quality control education programmes and transfer of technology to the industry for industrial and socio-economic development. According to the MoU, both parties would jointly initiate market-oriented research and development projects and other activities in the area of common interest, sharing their human and material resources. They would jointly organise training workshops, seminars and workshops.

School of Health Sciences COLLABORATION with umt

Lahore:23 august:School of Health Sciences at University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, on Tuesday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Surraya Azim (Waqf) Hospital for future collaboration, training and practical exposure of medical students and faculty involvement in knowledge transformation. UMT Director General Abid HK Shirwani and Iftikhar Chaudhry, member of the Surraya Azim Hospital Governing Body signed the agreement.
