UVAS Workshop Isolation and Uses of Macrophages

LAHORE:May 5: A two-day training workshop “Isolation and Uses of Macrophages in Research”, organised by the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), started on Thursday.

According to a press release, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the inaugural session of the workshop while Faculty of Bio-Sciences Dean Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Chairman Associate Prof Dr Aqeel Javeed and a number of participants from public and private sectors were also present.

LAHORE:May 5:Punjab University (PU) announced the results of different examinations on Thursday.

The exams include MA Economics Part-I supplementary examination 2016, MSc Mathematics Part-I supplementary examination 2016, MSc Statistics Part-I supplementary examination 2016, MSc Zoology Part-I supplementary examination 2016 and M Ed (Visual Impairment) second annual 2015 and first annual examinations 2016.

Punjab University awarded PhD degree to Farrukh Hussain

LAHORE:May 4: Punjab University has awarded PhD degree to Farrukh Hussain in the subject of Environmental Sciences after approval of his thesis entitled “A Study to Quantify the Environmental Impacts from the Management Options of Municipal Solid Waste of Aziz Bhatti Town, Lahore: A Life Cycle Assessment Approach with Focus on Global Warming”.

Punjab University engineering students to study in China

LAHORE: April 27: The Punjab University’s faculty of engineering and technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese company for higher education of its students in China. A ceremony to the effect was held at PU’s Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology here on Wednesday. Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt and Ms Yang Yu and Ms Yan Liuyl from China’s Gorges company were present on the occasion. According to the MoU, the Chinese company would support the PU engineering students to pursue higher studies in China for two years.

Violence feared at Punjab University annual book fair

LAHORE:April 24:The Punjab University is all set to organise its annual book fair from April 27 to April 29 after it was initially postponed due to the unrest on campus. However, the faculty and students fear fresh violence. PU had earlier announced the annual three-day book fair from April 6 to 8, 2017. In this regard, a high level meeting, chaired by PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir, was held to review arrangements.

Chinese scientists discuss cotton biotech lab at Punjab University

LAHORE:22 April:Scientists from Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS), China, visited Punjab University’s Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) to discuss establishment of “Pak-China Cotton Biotechnology Laboratory” at CEMB. According to a press release, in continuation of the developing strong ties, CEMB and China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC), China, jointly organised one day workshop “Pak-China Young Scientists Exchange Programme” at the centre.

Punjab University’s equivalence dept temporarily restored

LAHORE:April 21:A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday suspended an order of a single bench and allowed functioning of Punjab University’s equivalence department. The single bench comprising Justice Atir Mahmood had declared illegal functioning of the equivalence department. The university challenged the decision through an intra court appeal, which was heard on Thursday by a two-judge bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan.

Punjab University professor’s killers arrested

LAHORE:20 April:Iqbal Town CIA on Wednesday arrested three persons on charges of killing Prof Tahira Parveen at her Punjab University residence the other day. The accused killers were identified as Sajjad Ali, an electrician by profession and his two close friends Hammad and Suneel Masih. They had allegedly murdered the victim as she recognised Sajjad while looting her house.
