Lahore:June 7: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on the request of National Haj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has developed and launched ‘Online Pilgrims Registration’ platform for the automation of their operations for Haj 2017. About 9,5000 people from Nigeria will perform haj; 20,000 through private tour operators and 7,5000 through government arrangements.
LAHORE:June 7:The Embedded Computing Laboratory (ECLab) of Information Technology University (ITU) Punjab has invited applications for various research positions, including PhD candidates and research associates. According to a press release, the selected candidates will be involved in national and European research projects in the areas of information security (software/hardware), massively parallel computing systems and advanced computer architecture and approximate computing.
LAHORE:June 7:Punjab Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood has said a two-day international education conference will be held in Lahore on October 5 and 6. Chairing a meeting in the committee room of School Education Department on Tuesday, the minister said the world renowned educationists, experts and representatives of international organisations would participate in the conference. The aim of this gathering is to share experiences, study and adopt international models of education, he added.
LAHORE:06 June: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh has said that it has increased the number of student for on-job training from 9,000 to 59,000 in the past three years. Addressing a meeting here on Monday, he said that in 2014 the number of on job training for students was only 9,000 students which had now been increased up to 59,000 in the current year. He said Tevta aimed at increasing the number of on job training to 100,000.The news.

Lahore:05 June:They said that for the first time, police was deployed at the university for more than one month because of the VC’s failure to handle the situation. They also accused the VC of supporting Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT), because of which its activities of vandalism had increased on campus, they claimed while adding that teachers and students felt fearful on campus.
LAHORE:05 June:Punjab University’s academics are divided over the appointment of a new vice-chancellor at the university, which is expected to be announced by the Punjab chief minister in the upcoming weeks. One group of teachers is demanding that former vice chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran should be reappointed, while another is demanding that Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir be made the permanent VC.
LAHORE:29 May: Two government teachers allegedly pushed a class-IX girl student from the third floor of the school building in Shahdara, causing her life-threatening injuries. The teachers, who have been booked for attempted murder case, reported to have committed the crime after the girl refused to “clean the classroom on her turn”.
LAHORE:29 May: No progress has been made so far in the pending appointments of vice-chancellors at four public universities in Punjab. The issue seems to have hit a roadblock as a summary has been pending with the chief minister’s office since May 19. The four universities are Punjab University, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), University of Sargodha (UoS) and Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Engineering and Technology (MNSUET) Multan. Appointments at these four varsities were delayed due to a case that was being heard in the Lahore High Court (LHC).
Lahore:May 29:For PU, a writ had been filed in the LHC, which stated that the incumbent VC did not fulfil the minimum criteria set by the PHEC. Another alleged financial misappropriation had been unearthed at PU in the incumbent’s tenure. For the former VC, Mujahid Kamran, a NAB inquiry is also looking into financial embezzlement during his nine-year tenure. For the LCWU, the contest is between acting VC Dr Rukhsana Kausar, Dr Uzma Qureshi and Dr Shahida Hasnain.
Lahore:May 29: Information Technology University (ITU) will organise its first edX certificates distribution ceremony at Arfa Software Technology Park here on Monday (today). In February this year, ITU had signed an MoU with global education platform edX, a nonprofit online learning destination founded by Harvard and MIT, to integrate edX courses in the existing ITU degree programmes.
LAHORE:May 29:School Education Department (SED) Punjab has suspended services of Ehsan Malik holding additional charge of the post of Chief Executive Officer of District Education Authority Lahore, Ms Tayyaba Butt Dy. DEO (secondary education), Ms Naghmana Irshad headmistress and two SST namely Rehana Kauser and Bushra Tufail. These orders have been issued in connection with an incident of corporal punishment which occurred at City District Government Girls High School, Factory Area, Shahdara recently.
LAHORE:May 28:Schoolteachers, college lecturers and university professors slammed the government’s decision to increase their salaries by just 10% in 2017-18 federal budget. They called it a ‘meager’ increase compared to ‘massive’ inflation. The schoolteachers’ representative body, The Punjab Teachers’ Union (PTU), said the 10% increase was simply enough. In a joint statement, PTU leaders, including Central President Chaudhry Muhammad Sarfaraz, Syed Sajjad Akbar Kazmi, Rana Liaquat Ali, Jan Sadiq and others said the raise was an injustice with government employees.
