Punjab University and China’s University launch a joint PhD programme

LAHORE:19 May: Punjab University (PU) and China’s Northeastern University (NEU), which is ranked among top 40 universities in China, have signed a memorandum of understaning (MoU) to launch a joint PhD programme in history. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, Faculty of Arts and Humanities dean Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla, Registrar Dr Khalid Khan, External Linkages Director Dr Fauzia Hadi Ali and others were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.

Punjab University organised a seminar

LAHORE:12 May:Punjab University (PU) Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) Friday organised a seminar “The Geo Strategic Dimensions and Post 9/11 Afghanistan”. According to a press release, expert on Afghan affairs, intelligence and international security Brig (r) Ishaq Ahmed was the keynote speaker while Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members, MPhil & PhD scholars and students were also present on the occasion.

National conference on Pakistani Literature

LAHORE:06 May: Literature is the name given to creativity; our literature must highlight and resolve the problems faced by our society, said Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Nizamuddin. He was addressing the first national conference on “Counter Balancing Politics and Aesthetics in Pakistani Literature” on Saturday. The event was organised by the Punjab University (PU) Department of English Language and Literature, the PHEC and the Punjab Information and Culture Department and was attended by renowned artists, faculty members and a large number of students.

Punjab University got a female VC Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen

LAHORE :28 April: For the first time in the history of Punjab University (PU), the university got a female Vice-Chancellor (VC) with the appointment of Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen as the provisional VC on Friday. Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen is Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and Director of the Institute of Administrative Sciences at PU. Separately, the Punjab government has appointed Prof Dr Farkhanda Manzoor as provisional VC of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). Prof Dr Farkhanda Manzoor is Chairperson of Department of Zoology at the LCWU.

Punjab University,s ad hoc employees staged a demonstration

LAHORE:26 April: Dozens of ad hoc employees of the Punjab University (PU) serving on contract basis staged a demonstration on Wednesday outside the Lahore Press Club and demanded the government and the university administration to regularise their services. They were carrying banners and placards that highlighted their plight. They said they had been serving the university on ad hoc basis for a long time now and their contracts in this regard were extended time to time.The news.

PU inaugural ceremony of Pakistan Co-curricular Competitions

LAHORE:24 April: Punjab Minister for Higher Education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that Pakistan’s young generation is full of potential and their abilities must be utilised for the development of the country. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of All Pakistan Co-curricular Competitions being jointly organised by Punjab University, Punjab Higher Education Commission, National Accountability Bureau and Lahore College for Women’s University, at New Campus here on Monday, according to a press release issued here.
