Punjab University quality control education programmes

Lahore:23 august: Punjab University (PU) and Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote need-based standardisation and quality control education programmes and transfer of technology to the industry for industrial and socio-economic development. According to the MoU, both parties would jointly initiate market-oriented research and development projects and other activities in the area of common interest, sharing their human and material resources. They would jointly organise training workshops, seminars and workshops.

Punjab University to start MBBS, BDS this year

LAHORE:August 19: Punjab University’s Academic Council has approved bachelor’s level medical programmes ie MBBS and BDS along with curriculum as taught in King Edward Medical University (KEMU) from the academic session 2017. The meeting was chaired by Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir in which PU Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, heads of academic departments and professors participated.

Lahore:18 august:Punjab University (PU) students have shown outstanding performances in co-curricular activities organised by state TV to celebrate Independence Day. According to a press release, students, including Atif Shafiq and Shahzad Abbas, clinched first position with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 in state TV Azadi quiz competition at Lahore Centre while in final round in Islamabad, they got second position with cash prize of Rs 30,000.

PU, Chinese varsity agree to boost academic ties

LAHORE:09 August: The Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Liaoning Communication University, China to enhance academic cooperation. The memorandum of understanding aims at promoting academic cooperation between the two educational institutions by providing internships, arranging seminars, conferences and workshops. Both the universities will invite their faculties to work on joint publications.

Punjab University VC visits examination centres

LAHORE :02 August:Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir has visited examination centres on Wahdat Road and Lawrence Road. PU teachers divided over VC’s appointment Controller of Examinations Dr Shahid Munir, additional controllers Shahid Javed, Rauf Nawaz and others were present on the occasion. The VC reviewed arrangements made to facilitate candidates appearing in LLB examinations. He also asked candidates about the facilities provided to them at the centre. Teachers willing to go to ‘any extent’ against criteria change

LAHORE:23 July:Varsity teachers say they are willing to go to “any extent” to ensure that their concerns over proposals to revamp the criteria for the appointment of vice chancellors are addressed. Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association’s (FAPUASA) Punjab Chapter has written a letter to the chief minister and law minister, detailing their eight-point objections to the proposed criteria. The letter was written after FAPUASA Punjab Chapter held a meeting over the ongoing scenario of vice chancellors’ appointments. Advertisement

Punjab University awarded two PhD degrees to two scholars.

LAHORE:July 22: Punjab University (PU) has awarded two PhD degrees to two scholars. According to details, Hira Tariq has been awarded PhD in the subject of Mathematics after approval of her thesis entitled “Efficacious Algorithms for the Solutions of Fractional Differential Equations” and Iram Khan in the subject of Chemistry after approval of her thesis entitled “Synthesis Characterisation and Biological Activity of Complexes of Certain Lanthanide Ions with N-and O-Containing Mixed Ligands”.

Governor directed to appoint DUHS VC in three days

LAHORE:21July:However, on June 24, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif interviewed all six candidates for vice chancellorship at Punjab University and MNSUET. Academic circles hoped that permanent vice chancellors would be appointment soon after the interviews; however, the government has now revised its position and decided to start the appointment process anew.

Report sought from Punjab govt in VCs case

LAHORE:July 18: The Lahore High Court on Monday sought a report from the Punjab government on a petition seeking a stay order against appointment of vice-chancellors at three public sector universities. Dr Abdul Mannan filed the petition pleading that the government initiated the process for the appointment of VCs at Punjab University, King Edward Medical University and Fatima Jinnah Medical College University.

Online admissions begin at PUCIT

LAHORE:16 July:The Punjab University has officially inaugurated online admissions at Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT). Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir inaugurated PUCIT’s indigenous single sign on admission system. On the first day of online registration, more than 1,500 applicants signed up and printed their challan forms to submit the fee. This year, PUCIT expects to receive a record number of applicants due to this hassle-free, automated, and online process at their doorstep.
