Over 30,000 teachers to get English training Under PEELI

LAHORE:16 June: More than 30,000 schoolteachers will receive English language training under the Punjab Education and English Language Initiative (PEELI). The two-day training will be conducted by the Quaid-e-Azam Academy for Educational Development (QAED), where 30,918 educators will be trained by 773 trainers in the same number of classes. The training is to be held between June 22 and 23.The news.

Punjab HED extends date to apply for position of ITU VC

LAHORE:15 June: After getting a negligible response from academics, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has extended the last date to apply for the post of Information Technology University (ITU) vice-chancellor by more than half a month. A new advertisement has been floated by the HED, extending the date to June 20. In the earlier advertisement, the last date was set as June 3.

Muhammad Abdullah, son of Muhammad Jamil, has been awarded a PhD in Islamic studies, Kalima Akhtari, daughter of Muhammad Ibrahim, in Persian, Anam Yousaf, d/o Muhammad Yousaf, in environmental sciences, Sumreen Hayat, d/o Ahmed Hayat, in microbiology & molecular genetics and Manzoor Hussain, s/o Muhammad Sharif, in the subject of microbiology & molecular genetics.The news.

PU College of Earth Sciences won an environmental research project

Lahore:14 June: Punjab University College of Earth and Environmental Sciences has won an environmental research project from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan worth Rs 3.7m. CEES Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rashid had proposed the research project titled “reduction in air emissions through modifications and improve efficiency in firing of brick kiln units”.

Govt College University VC gets additional charge of Narowal varsity

LAHORE:14 June: Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, Vice Chancellor of Govt College University Lahore, has been given additional charge of the post of Vice Chancellor, University of Narowal. A notification in this regard was issued on Wednesday by the Punjab Higher Education Department after the approval of Chancellor/Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana. According to the notification, Prof Hassan Shah will hold the additional charge of the post till the appointment of regular Vice Chancellor at University of Narowal. Prof Shah is an eminent physicist and recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz.

PU VC principles of governance were merit, transparency and accountability

LAHORE:10 June:Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Dr Niaz Ahmed has said the administration would ensure rule of law in all affairs. He vowed to ensure that the principles of governance were merit, transparency and accountability. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the deans of all faculties at the committee room of his office on Saturday. The university has put up a portrait of Ms Jahangir in its Graduate Institute of Development Studies gallery.

Prof Dr Naeem Khan appointed as first VC of University of Baltistan

LAHORE:01 June: Punjab University’s Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan has been appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of University of Baltistan. He has been appointed for three years. President of Pakistan in his capacity as Chancellor of University of Baltistan has appointed Dr Naeem as the first VC of the university in exercise of powers conferred by Section 10 (3) of the University of Baltistan Order 2016.

PU VC Search Committee completed interviews of over 40 candidates

LAHORE:30 May: The Vice-Chancellor (VC) Search Committee on Tuesday completed interviews of over 40 candidates who were shortlisted for the post of VC of Punjab University (PU), it is learnt. A total of 17 candidates were shortlisted for interviews on Tuesday while the Search Committee had also invited around four candidates to interviews on nominations. Sources privy to the developments said 21 candidates were invited to interviews on the first day, Monday. One of them did not turn up. They added on Tuesday again one of the candidates could not make it to appear for the interview.

Two students of PU-IBA selected in Global ndergraduate Exchange Programme

LAHORE:26 May: Two students of Punjab University’s Institute of Business Administration (PU-IBA) have been selected to participate in the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme. Syed Irtiza Haider Bukhari and Ms Hajra Javed, the students of BBA seventh semester, will participate in the programme funded by the United States Department of States. They will leave for the US in August 2018.
