LAHORE :19 April: University of Management and Technology (UMT) President Ibrahim Hasan Murad has said that the budget reduction has resulted in a financial panic for academia and will bring students on streets. In a press release, the UMT president said the future of youth was at stake as the recurring budget of the higher education sector was facing serious deficit of more than Rs 25 billion. The HEC and govt should look into the matter and take steps to avoid any untoward situation, he added.

Lahore:17 April:Punjab University (PU) and National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) jointly launched “Road Safety on Wheel” campaign here on Tuesday to create awareness among the people about their safe travel. PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, NH&MP DIG Ahmad Arsalan Malik and other officials were present on the occasion. Under the campaign, road safety awareness messages were displayed on all PU buses.
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a contempt of court notice to a Punjab University (PU) teacher and got her arrested after she started crying loudly during the hearing of a case disrupting the court proceedings. Ms Khujista Rehan, an assistant professor, had been in litigation with her fellow teachers at the university accusing them of running a vilification campaign against her in a Whatsapp group.

LAHORE:April 13: Punjab University teaching departments, institutes, centres and constituent colleges/ schools will remain close for Spring Recess from April 15 to April 23. The university did not observe the spring break last year. A spokesperson for the university said spring recess was observed in the year 2017 as well. LAHORE:April 11: The students and faculty members of the Government College University, Lahore have donated almost 258 pints of blood for cancer patients. The blood donation drive was organised by the GCU Blood Donor Society (GCU-BDS) in collaboration with the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), Lahore. Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU Vice-Chancellor, visited the camp and appreciated the efforts of the BDS members who donate more than 1,500 pints of blood every year for the patients suffering from cancer.
LAHORE:10 April: A large number of women students of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) protested against their male class fellows for posting derogatory and sexist remarks on social networking sites. The female students also boycotted classes and held a sit-in outside the university’s Office of Students Affairs. They shouted slogans against the students involved in the incident. The girls demanded that the university administration take strict action against their class fellows as the incident has not only damaged their reputation, but also tarnished the image of LUMS.

LAHORE:02 April: Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, Vice Chancellor of Government College University (GCU), has been given additional charge of Vice Chancellor of Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, Lahore. A notification in this regard was issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department after the approval of Chancellor/Punjab governor. According to the notification, Prof Hassan Shah will hold the additional charge of the post till the appointment of regular Vice Chancellor at Punjab Tianjin University of Technology.
